Hopi Ear Candle Treatment
How They Work
There is much debate as to the exact way that ear candling works, but thousands swear to its effectiveness. Some common theories such as using a chimney effect to draw out wax have been disproved by ‘medical research’. It has been proved that the effects of ear candling reach far beyond that of the ears, nose, throat and head.
The flame produces a vibrational effect on the inner ear and ear drum encouraging impurities, residue and toxins to be released. This also encourages secretion of the frontal and Para nasal sinuses.
It invigorates the immune system and stimulates important acupuncture and reflex points. On a spiritual level, the Chakras are cleansed and balanced and the Kundalini is stimulated.
It is a common misconception that ear candles actually draw out ear wax from the ear using a chimney action. The residue in the candle after treatment is simply the wax from the candle and Not ear wax! Ear wax is encouraged to disperse during and after ear candling but is NOT drawn out of the ear.
How they are used
You will be comfortably positioned with your head resting on a pillow. After gentle massaging around the face and neck area surrounding the ear; the therapist places the tapered candle in the ear entrance and lights the candle at the end. All that is expected of you is to keep your eyes closed; for maximum effect, and relax. You will feel no discomfort, just a light suction action, whilst the movement of the flame creates a vibration of air, generating a massage effect on the eardrum.
This induces a pleasant feeling of warmth and a balance of pressure in the ears, forehead and sinuses. This soothing is helpful for earache, ear noise, headache, stress.
After treatment your therapist will repeat the gentle massage for maximum benefit, and you will be encouraged to remain lying for ten minutes whilst this smoothing procedure takes action.

Ear Candles are recommended for almost all Ear Nose and Throat conditions, and are especially good for: excessive wax; pressure regulation in cases of Sinusitis, Rhinitis, Glue Ear, Colds, Flu Etc; Migraine and Headaches; TMJ (Clicking Jaw) pain; Tinnitus and noises in the ears; Hearing Impairment.
